Last weekend we went to see the Vivid light show on the Sydney buildings at Circular Quay. In a word WOW!

It was definitely worth the the hassle of parking the car in Balmain, catching a bus into the city and walking for ages to get there.

We saw the Sydney Opera House as I have never seen it before – magnificient!

Not to mention horses galloping across buildings….

And then cars driving up them. The technological aspects of putting the whole thing together is just mind boggling.

So to continue our discussion on ‘What makes a Successful Artist’. Let me ask you if I may…. How do people generally describe you? Stand back and try to see yourself as others do – it’s hard I know, but well worth the effort. Do they think of you as having a genuinely positive attitude?A Sunny personality? Are you a prankster, a dare-devil or a stern, taciturn sort of character? Are you just a weeny bit, or a great big bit on the negative side of the balance scale? The thing is that if you want to sell your work, at some point you are going to have to develop relationships with your buyers, or gallery owners. This is actually extremely important because it determines -

How well you can attract great opportunities to you and
How effectively you are going to interact with both your patrons and your galleries

Now that you have the answer to that question here is another for you….. How can you improve? What are some things you might practice in all your interactions with other people? You know one thing that really affects how others perceive us is our physicality. When we stand erect, with shoulders back and smile, we give off a presence of confidence and professionalism that we might not be feeling on the inside. So that is just one thing you might practice.

Smiling is such a powerful thing. Have you ever walked down the street and just nodded and smiled to everyone you pass. You never know how much difference you will have made to that person’s day by just acknowledging and appreciating them. Just doing this makes you feel so much better your self – try it some time if you haven’t.

Little children know how to be joyful – even babies – and don’t they make us smile! See how they attract us and open our hearts to them – even before they can speak!

Creativity And Cup Cakes

My eldest daughter recently became a mum for the second time. This of course means little time for ones self. Gopala has always loved to paint, but not done much over the last few years, her creativity has gone into renovating and having kids.

Last week it was beautiful to see that although she has stopped painting, her creativity is just busting out regardless.

It was Levis third birthday….

And his favourite colour is …. you guessed it – yellow!

She made this gorgeous cup cake tree of yellow cup cakes – and what a great idea for littel kids. Much more maneagable. All the trouble she went to with their own little marshmallow decorations and pretty yellow cups etc.

And then there were the lollie bags.

It is amazing how our creativity will always find a way to flourish even if we don’t have time to follow our preferred choice.

And of course then there’s the really little things we create which turn into big things and keep on going for the rest of our lives – works in progress.
